Diversidade humana, movimentos sociais e serviço social na realidade lusófona
Abstract
The article discusses the trajectory of Brazilian Social Work in its dialogue with Marxist theory and social struggles, analyzing how issues such as gender, race, sexuality, generation, and disability have been incorporated unequally over time. It highlights advances and limitations in the profession's construction of a critical and intersectional understanding of the multiple expressions of the social question. The text also emphasizes the importance of social movements and ethical-political guidelines in affirming human diversity as a structuring dimension of professional praxis. Based on current data, it reveals the asymmetry in the institutionalization of these themes in academic production and advocates for the strengthening of critical, plural, and socially committed approaches to human emancipation.
Keywords: Human diversity; Social question; Intersectionality.
