Nas encruzilhadas das opressões
racismo e travestifobia na trama brasileira.
Abstract
This article is part of the results of a doctoral research project conducted between 2019 and 2023 in the Graduate Program in Social Work at the Federal University of Pernambuco (PPGSS/UFPE). To expose and problematize systemic violence against Black transvestites and transsexuals in Brazil, this article presents part of the trajectory of Jovanna, a Black transvestite living in the state of Pernambuco who has been affected by a series of denials since childhood. This trajectory, although constructed through various moments, has the multifaceted violence, which daily challenges her life, as a major exponent. This highlights that immersion in the stories and memories of Black transvestites in a country like Brazil allows for the encounter with both singularities and what can be universalized for structural reasons. Thus, using countercoloniality as a theoretical-political perspective, this work elucidates and analyzes violence against Black transvestites.
