Serviço Social, Políticas Sociais e os desafios da Interseccionalidade
Abstract
Intersectionality is a widely discussed analytical tool that points toward a horizon of feminist and antiracist action. Initially introduced by social movements advocating for Black women in the United States, the concept can be incorporated into Social Work practices in Brazil through the actions of social workers within existing social policies. The challenges of incorporating intersectionality into the design, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of public policies are profound and reflect the complexity of interactions among social markers and the inequalities shaped by power systems that create such conditions for certain groups in society. This article discusses, through excerpts from the book Quarto de Despejo: diário de uma favelada by Carolina Maria de Jesus, how it's possible to approach intersectional action in the field of Social Work through concrete situations and the life stories in which individuals are embedded.
