Abstract

A necessary pedagogy of care at school and its healing role is analyzed at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic and its confinements are affecting the mental health of society, and in particular, the emotional and social well-being of children and adolescents. The effects that different gaps of inequality and vulnerability are producing on families and students and their school performance and emotional and social well-being are analyzed. The profile of the people who care for children and adolescents and the skills they should develop to provide a balanced, respectful and effective care pedagogy are discussed in depth. Identifying guidelines of this pedagogy of care are marked, and finally, lines of action are proposed for a new school that incorporates these values and intentions in its educational proposals.
