THE MILITARY DICTATORSHIP AND THE NATIONAL INFORMATION SERVICE (SNI) AND THE SURVEILLANCE OF A PROGRESSIVE UNIONIST, PRIESTS AND BISHOP IN A MUNICIPALITY IN THE AMAZON, MOJU/PA: 1970 AND 1980

Abstract

This article seeks to show how the Military Dictatorship, through the National Information Service (SNI), monitored religious leaders, bishop, priests and a trade unionist in a municipality in the Amazon, more precisely in the state of Pará, Moju, belonging to what was then called the Guajarina region. , in the first half of the 1980s. Its objective is to bring a reflection on the processes of advances in agroindustry in this area, encouraged by the developmental projects of military governments (1964-1985), which triggered a series of conflicts over land with 'investors' from other Brazilian states and families who had lived in this space for decades, causing the figure of a union leadership to 'emerge' in Moju, priests and the bishop from the diocese of Abaetetuba, who defended these people threatened with losing their land, and for this reason they were monitored by the National Information Service (SNI).
