Abstract

This review aims to present a critical analysis of the work A força dos que resistem e a sanha dos que Atacam (2023), highlighting particular perceptions on the theme of racism and religious intolerance against religions of African origin. The methodology is based on bibliographical research on the subject and on dialogue with the areas of Social Sciences and Anthropology. The relevance of the theme is evident, as it exposes the persistence of discriminatory practices rooted in Brazilian society, which systematically affect the practitioners of these religions. The book shows that these acts of violence range from veiled prejudice to physical and symbolic attacks, and reveal not only religious intolerance, but also the structural racism that runs through the country's history. Understanding these dynamics, therefore, is essential to promote respect for religious and ethnic diversity, as well as to strengthen public policies aimed at guaranteeing human rights and valuing Afro-Brazilian cultural expressions.
