Abstract

This article is based on fieldwork and adopts an Eliasian approach to its analysis. The objective is to highlight the configurations for understanding human-nature interactions within sustainable management models, aiming to improve the use of Conservation Units for the consolidation of community-based tourism, at the Viruá National Park Conservation Unit in the state of Roraima. This is an important natural heritage site, a transition zone, and the maintenance of the logic of ecosystem and biodiversity protection. Incorporated into the context, and within this perception and interpretation of configurations and networks of functional interdependencies, they are established as the main alternatives for advances in income generation and social justice, as well as their proven role as a mechanism for driving growth in the human development index in harmony, balance, and respect for nature, reducing negative impacts and combating degradation and biopiracy, which so plague the Amazon rainforest due to anthropogenic actions.
