This article examines the outsourcing process being implemented by the Brazilian industries in the search of the market competitiveness. Surveys have revealed that such practice has been growing throughout the country and has been perversely affectiong the labor world. In the Manaus Industrial District outsourcing has been an expanding process among competitive industries, and the consequences have been precariousness of the work and of the employment, as evidenced in a survey carried out at Gradiente Eletrônica S. A.
