Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Patient-Centered Care (PCC) is an approach that values patients' needs, preferences, and values, being essential in the hospital context, especially given the complexity of treatments and patients' vulnerability. The integrated work of the multidisciplinary team is fundamental to ensure the effectiveness of this model. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the perception of the multidisciplinary team regarding patient-centered care in the hospital setting. METHODOLOGY: This is a systematic literature review, conducted between the years 2021 to 2025, based on JBI guidelines. The search was carried out in April 2025 in the PubMed, Medline, Cochrane Library and SciELO databases, using controlled descriptors and Boolean operators. Original qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method studies published in the last five years were included. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Nine studies were included in the final analysis. The findings indicate that the multidisciplinary team perceives PCC as an effective strategy to improve communication, care quality, and patient satisfaction. Collaboration among different professionals contributes to better clinical outcomes, such as glycemic control, treatment adherence, and reduced complications. However, challenges such as work overload and communication failures still hinder the full implementation of the model. CONCLUSION: The team recognizes the importance of PCC, but its implementation requires investment in training, changes in organizational culture, and policies that promote collaborative and humanized practices in hospitals.
