Abstract

PERCEPTION OF BOTANY TEACHING IN HIGH SCHOOL

Abstract

The knowledge of botany it is great relevance due the importance of the plants at maintenance the life. However, it is observed that contents turned for it is discipline oftentimes are few taught in schools, and currently, in elementary and high school there is a lack of learning, due to the fact that it is often taught to students only as a strictly theoretical content. Thus, the present study had as objectives, to research methodologies applied to Biology teaching, assessing the perception from pupils in how it is being ministered the class of Botany in the high school, identifying tendencies and pointing out possible resources what help at the process in teaching and learning. Thus, in the period from 2018 to 2019 a questionnaire was applied to for four classes of the second year of high school, in a state school in the municipality of Porto Velho – Rondônia State. Questionnaire was applied to 82 students. The responses indicated that the formation of students’ affinity with disciplines depends crucially on how the teacher transmits the contents and how he conducts the class. Students are always looking for the teacher to facilitate learning, explain clearly and with a dynamic method that can meet the students’ understanding. Altogether, it is concluded that the teaching of Biology, specifically Botany, needs to instigate the relationship of man with nature through the use of innovative methodologies in theoretical and practical classes.
