A FESTA DO SANTO GUERREIRO E A REPRESENTAÇÃO DA GUERRA ENTRE MOUROS E CRISTÃOS

Abstract

This work aims to make an ethnographic approach to the São Tiago festivity, held annually in july in the city of Mazagão Velho, in the state of Amapá. The party consists of a religious part of devotion to the catholic saint – novenas, masses, processions, payment of promises, among other aspects. – and a cultural part, consisting of a craft fair, dancing parties, bingos and the to religiosity and sociability in order to shape identity atrical staging of the war between moors and christians. The study takes a brief look at the founding history of the city of Mazagão Velho, in the 18th century, presents data about the city and, finally, makes an ethnographic description of the theatrical staging of the battle. The analysis shows that the party mixes historical and contemporary aspects, in relation to religiosity and sociability in order to shape identity values.
