Abstract

AGRICULTURE, POPULAR CULTURE AND PEASANTRY: AN ANALYSIS OF THE CARÁ FOLKLORE FESTIVAL IN CAAPIRANGA (AM)

Abstract: The cultural manifestation related to Cará in Caapiranga carry elements of the strengthening and way of life resistance and popular culture as a way of valuing tuber production and the culture of the Amazon. These objectives in the article based on the identification, analysis and understanding of the existing cultural and economic relations in the municipality, located in the Rio Solimões region. The methodology based on literature review and data collection at the first and secondary levels, based on qualitative aspects, related to the existing social roles. From this, there is a strong influence of capital both in peasant agriculture and in the commercialization of the popular festival, based on the influences of other popular manifestations in the Amazon. Therefore, the municipality of Caapiranga ends up suffering several impacts related to capital, making resistance, both in the peasantry and in the popular festival, a key to alliances for the valorization and expression of the municipality's economy and culture.
