Abstract

The Festival of Mocambo do Arari, agrovila of  Parintins – AM, created in 2004, is today, one of the great popular manifestations of Amazonas, attracting visitors from the city of Parintins and nearby regions, with the participation of “bois-bumbás”, “quadrilhas” and “cordões de pássaros”. The article analyzes the “Jaçanã” and “Pavão Misterioso” bird festival, its living practice, from a historical and anthropological perspective. We tried to make reflections about who organizes the party that has more than 50 years of stories, as well as the ritual presented at the Mocambodromo, through an ethnographic apprehension. The considerations are part of the master's research, carried out between the years 2017 and 2019, which potentiated problematizations about the way of life culture and the struggle in the recreation of rights. In this sense, anchored by cultural studies and also based on oral history, we tried to share the voices of the social subjects who participate in the party. It is concluded that the strategies of resistance for their maintenance of the party highlight the aspects of daily life, the memories and the yearnings of involved, who fight for cultural citizenship, a time when they reaffirm their identities.
