. A Implementação do Ensino Bilingue como vector para a preservação da Identidade Cultural dos povos macua da província de Nampula-Moçambique
Abstract
The main objective of this study is to analyze how the implementation of bilingual education in schools on the outskirts of Nampula Province contributes to the preservation of the cultural identity of students of Macua origin. The research is based on the following research question: How does the implementation of bilingual education in schools on the outskirts of Nampula Province contribute to the preservation of the cultural identity of students of Macua origin? The sociolinguistic reality of Mozambique, marked by a rich ethnic and linguistic diversity, highlights the importance of educational policies that value local languages. In the case of the Macua, the largest ethnolinguistic group in Nampula Province, the introduction of bilingual education, which combines the use of Portuguese with their mother tongue (in particular Emakhuwa), in outlying schools represents a crucial strategy for strengthening and valuing local culture. By integrating traditional language and knowledge into the school curriculum, bilingual education favors the construction of a more solid cultural identity among students, while facilitating learning through a language that is familiar to them.
