About the Journal

The FAARTES Journal, a scientific journal of the Faculty of Arts of the Federal University of Amazonas (FAARTES/UFAM), is a biannual online publication with an independent editorial line. It is open to all individuals developing academic research in the arts, or multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, or transdisciplinary research, with a subject situated in and/or connected to the creation and thinking of artistic languages.

The journal seeks to disseminate unpublished works by undergraduate and graduate students, professors, and researchers in the arts field, or those who engage in dialogue with this field, guided by a vision of the arts as a human and social phenomenon, which relates objects of study to their respective contexts and conceptual frameworks, from a critical perspective.

Contributions are received and published on a continuous basis, a model currently recommended by SciELO.

The journal has a specific interest in works focused on the following themes:

  • Visual Arts and its subareas
  • Cinema, Audiovisual and its subareas
  • Music and its subareas
  • Inter/Muti/Transdisciplinarities and their connections

Sections

Articles: Research work, according to the guidelines for the scientific construction of knowledge, that presents a clear contribution to the development of knowledge in the arts and addresses one of the journal's themes of interest. To this end, the article should contain a comprehensive literature review on the research question, the theoretical-conceptual and methodological framework adopted, the results achieved, and the work's contributions.

Book Reviews: Review of a book published in the last three years prior to the journal's issue, containing: brief information about the author(s); the field and scope of study of the work; the main ideas and their respective foundations and developments; and a critical appraisal mentioning the work's main contributions to the field of study.

Memoirs: Commemorative or memorialistic texts about significant figures or events in the field of arts.

Interviews: Texts resulting from interviews with prominent figures in the arts.

Artistic Documents: Sheet music, visual works, sound recordings, and other types of documents containing information of artistic interest, accompanied by analysis.

Expanded Abstracts: To encourage and disseminate knowledge production in the arts, the journal also publishes abstracts of Final Course Papers (TCC), dissertations, or theses completed in undergraduate and graduate programs.

The FAARTES Journal may also publish translations of articles and reviews published abroad, subject to the terms of agreement established between the author and the original editors of the text. Thematic dossiers and special issues may also be published.
