“A GENTE VÊ QUE ELES TÊM AMOR AO IPÊ”: UMA EXPERIÊNCIA DE EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL NA ILHA DO MARAJÓ, PARÁ, BRASIL

These experience report presents the implementation and development of environmental education project with early childhood education children at a riverside school in the village of Santo Amaro, located in the municipality of Portel, Pará, Brazil. The report includes a general description of one of the activities carried out during the project, which consisted of the collective planting of a Pink Trumpet Tree (Handroanthus heptaphyllus). Throughout the process, it was observed that the children developed affection for the tree and considered it their responsibility. In this sense, the project indicates signs of success ins awakening environmental awareness in children, as well as to the construction of environmental citizenship, which is essential in combating the treats of “progress” to the Amazonian socio-biodiversity.
