This article aims to reflect on the role of the Accessibility and Inclusion Support Center (NAAI) at the Ceará State University (UECE) as a student retention space for people with disabilities. This qualitative, exploratory study involved semi-structured interviews with the center's coordinator. Data analysis revealed that the NAAI has played a fundamental role in the accessibility and inclusion of the students it serves, enabling actions that contribute to their learning and retention. However, it still faces many challenges, whether due to the limited staffing, structural and attitudinal barriers still present at the university, or the center's limited visibility. The interviewee advocates for greater investment in teacher training and for expanding the NAAI's connections with other university departments.
