Keywords:

This paper will present possibilities for expanding reflections on the Citizen Education component of the elementary school curriculum, specifically in the 9th grade, based on studies on ethnic-racial relations, with the aim of promoting anti-racist education and raising awareness of the possible meanings of citizenship for all. The theoretical contributions include Law 10.639/03 and Law 11.645/08, which established the mandatory teaching of Afro-Brazilian and African history and culture at all levels of basic education, both public and private, as well as the studies by Almeida (2009) on structural racism and the thinking of Cunha Júnior (2022) on Afro-descendants. The result is the drafting of a municipal law to combat racism, based on the reflections of students in the search for real citizenship.
