WATERS OF NAGASAKI: THE JAPANESE IN BRAZILIAN SCIENCE-FICTION

Waters of Nagasaki is a Science-fiction short story written by Domingos Carvalho da Silva that narrates the life of an immigrant hibakusha (a survivor from the atomic bombing) on Brasil. Considering the similarities with the japanese science fiction films “Godzilla” and “The H-Man”, from the director Ishirô Honda, we seek to understand how the Japanese man’s image is constructed and the attitude before the nuclear threat on both societies.
