The industrialization and housing development policies introduced since the 70’s have been decisive in the urban structure process of Manaus. However, the observed spacial changes are linked to a complex of urban policies, aggressive to the environment highlighting the transformation of a public spa in to masonry and asphalt. The different types of public intervention in the Mindu area have failed to contribute towards the preservation/conservation of the environment and quality of life. The research was carried out from february to november 2002.
