ANÍSIO TEIXEIRA E A UNIVERSIDADE: A CONSTRUÇÃO DA CONCEPÇÃO DE UM MODELO UNIVERSITÁRIO NO BRASIL

Abstract

This article aims to examine the intellectual contribution of Anísio Teixeira to the Brazilian university. To this end, it seeks to establish the educational conception that permeates the author's bibliographic production concerning higher education, with the purpose of emphasizing the organizational model proposed by the educator for the national university, regarding the institution's curricular and administrative structure. The analysis employs the framework of French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu as his theoretical foundation, relying primarily on the concepts of field, social trajectory, and habitus. The research, of a bibliographic nature, is grounded in the works of Anísio Teixeira, among which his writings on the university and those of his contemporaries and commentators stand out. It is observed that Anísio Teixeira emphasized in his writings the importance of constructing a Brazilian university based on national knowledge, on the development and preparation of professionals, through a broad education, founded on the expansion of the human mind and on knowledge acquired and intellectually reworked by agents, in a constant process of knowledge construction. He highlighted the need for the progressive structural adaptation of the university institution, stressing the necessity of a curricular adjustment that encompassed access, retention, progression in studies, and insertion into the professional field.
