Abstract

This article is arisen from result of discussions undertaken by the Song Study Group (GECAN), linked to the Center for Studies in Applied Linguistics at UFSC. It aims to present a proposal for educational practice for English classes in Basic Education, having as an object of knowledge the song from a multisemiotic perspective. The theoretical assumptions that support this research are anchored, among others, in Bakhtin (2016) with the concept of genre, Freire (2000, 2002, 2019, 2020) regarding liberating educational practices, and Baltar et al. (2019, 2022, 2025) with the perspective of multisemiotic analysis of song. The study, which is qualitative and bibliographical, results in an educational practice with the song Your Song designed for the 8th year of Elementary School and uses as an analytical device the Tetragram of Multisemiotic Analysis of Song developed by GECAN, which considers constant skills in the BNCC for the English Language component.
