Abstract

Environmental Education is an essential principle at all levels of education and in all educational contexts, extending to the community with the aim of empowering and encouraging it to protect the environment. Given its importance, it is crucial to ensure that all students, including those eligible for special education, have access to this education. In this context, the objective of this study is to analyze the existing literature on environmental education for children with autism and identify best practices for implementing this education in inclusive settings. A qualitative approach was adopted, analyzing six empirical studies published between 2014 and 2024. The results indicate emerging and recent literature, with adapted practices showing effectiveness in promoting inclusion and environmental awareness. Practical interventions, such as tree planting and the creation of teaching materials, proved successful in engaging and educating students with autism. It is concluded that the integration of environmental education with inclusive strategies can be meaningfully achieved by considering the specificities of autism and adapting pedagogical practices. Future research is expected to expand the knowledge base and promote inclusive strategies in environmental education.
