Abstract

In this article we aim to investigate to what extension art can contribute to education of students with ID in one of the pedagogical practices with students who receive Special Education. The research was developed in the city of Porto Velho, Brazilian Amazon. We opted for a descriptive research approach having a teacher who evaluated 10 (ten) students during extracurricular activities. These activities referred to the contributions of classroom practices to the student's development in the tasks applied during the workshop. We prepared a questionnaire to the teacher so she could   evaluate the “Arts Workshop” as an extracurricular activity which was held at the Abnael Machado de Lima State School of Special Education. The results indicate that the Arts Workshops promote various aspects of intellectual development which corroborate classroom practices. Therefore, it was possible to conclude that art can contribute to the education of students with intellectual disabilities.
