The taxonomic and geographical importance of plant species for society is to establish policies that aim to guarantee control over the exploitation of natural resources in the long term, as human action in the environment is evident. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the taxonomic and geographical importance of Brazilian flora threatened with extinction, in order to contribute to the application and preservation of Brazil's plant biodiversity. The methodology used was based on a literature review, through descriptive and exploratory research that aims to examine the material generated in scientific work, giving importance to all stages such as: concepts, techniques, results, discussions and conclusions, with the purpose of investigating articles published in national and international journals, covering the inclusion period 2003-2023 as this type of study seeks to understand a problem based on theoretical references published in documents. The results obtained were 53 scientific works, considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Of these, 38 were excluded after reading the title and abstract, as they did not present content with the proposed theme. The final result included a total of 15 works, related to taxonomic and geographic importance for the Brazilian flora. The results of these works point to a critical reality in terms of the conservation of Brazilian flora threatened with extinction. The potential loss of almost half of the species assessed highlights the urgency of comprehensive and effective conservation strategies, involving government actions, additional research and societal awareness. It is concluded that more active actions by government bodies are necessary to consolidate public policies in relation to the conservation and preservation of Brazilian flora.
