This study aims to investigate how the Pedagogy program at the Faculty of Education, Science, and Letters of Iguatu, at the State University of Ceará, has promoted the training of pedagogues to serve the population of Special Education. Based on qualitative research and documentary analysis of the Course’s Pedagogical Political Project, it was found that, although there is a mandatory course focused on the topic and other elective courses for professional specialization, the workload of the mandatory course is limited, and expanding the content through electives weakens the training, since their optional nature does not guarantee that all students will take them. It is concluded that it is necessary to expand the training space dedicated to inclusive special education, invest in the qualification of teachers, and strengthen partnerships with schools and the academic community, in order to enhance the initial training of future pedagogues.
