Abstract

Case formulation within the person-centered approach is a controversial topic, yet it is one that must be addressed, particularly in light of the institutional demands faced by many students and psychotherapists. The aim of this article is, first, to examine the tensions this topic generates within this approach, and second, to propose a method that enables students and professionals to formulate and present clinical cases in diverse contexts. The article concludes that therapists operating within the person-centered approach can engage in dialogue with these systemic demands without compromising their epistemological coherence.
