Technological advancements have brought significant changes to our relationship with books, which are now also influenced by the immediacy of modern times, characterized by short videos circulated through various social media platforms. Given this scenario, it is understood as necessary to implement these tools in the school environment, starting from the understanding that they can play an important role in strengthening and engaging students in literary reading. To this end, the experiences reported by second-year high school students are investigated based on a group activity that proposed the creation of podcasts, drawing on Gothic tales from the Romantic literature movement, in Portuguese language and Brazilian literature classes. The students' feedback showed that the environment created, combining literary texts with the use of technology, promoted autonomy, bolstered self-confidence, fostered creativity, and encouraged collaboration among peers, enabling them to take on a leading role by producing content after the readings done in class. The theoretical reflections proposed here draw on the contributions of scholars who reflect on both the use of technology in the school environment and the importance of literary reading and its social role.
2025-07-02T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Ariane Avila Neto de Farias, Anderson Martins Pereira //www.periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/Decifrar/article/view/17158 The poetics of reading in Ana Martins Marques and Ana Cristina Cesar 2025-06-11T22:39:49+00:00 Camila Nakamura Vieira cnkvr9@gmail.com
This article aims to undertake a close reading of selected poems by Ana Martins Marques, focusing on the dialogues the Brazilian poet from Minas Gerais establishes with Ana Cristina Cesar, a poet from Rio de Janeiro. These dialogues provide a framework for examining how both poets engage with literary tradition and, moreover, for analyzing how they invoke specific figures through citations, epigraphs, and intertextual references. Moving beyond hierarchical and generational perspectives on tradition and rupture, as well as the straightforward analysis of intertextual exchanges, this study draws on theoretical contributions from Jorge Luis Borges (2000), Emir Rodríguez Monegal (1980), and Ricardo Piglia (2000), among others, to explore the library as a foundational space for the creative processes of these poets. Hilda Hilst dialogues with History and creates a dramaturgical version of what happened to Franciscan priest Maximilian Kolbe, a victim of the Nazi persecution that mowed thousands of lives on the planet. Those condemned in the Hunger basement takes on speeches that interweave disenchantment and disgust with life. Each, in its own way, evokes thoughts that aim to rationalize the abandonment in which they are inserted. The speeches and interactions between the characters reverberate the whole of a complex web of subjectivities magnetized by conflicts. Speech is a kind of testament of the end, orchestrated by the drives of a carnal, poetic and spiritualistic order that runs through the characters. The essay aims to think about how prisoners face the confirmation of death and how they build themselves in the face of the existential ruins that spreads on their bodies and their actions, most of the time more centered on internal than on the external movement, since taking into account the action of resisting occurs through thought. Based on a trilingual book series (Kotiria-Portuguese-English), students rewrote the story Wa’i Duhi Ta’ri Hire (From Birds to Fish), exploring multiple translation modes (textual, visual, audiovisual). The study shows that intercultural translation, when contextualized, enhances critical literacy by: (1) improving linguistic skills in both the mother tongue and the additional language; (2) fostering metalinguistic and intercultural awareness; and (3) challenging epistemic hierarchies through the valorization of Indigenous knowledge. The analysis also reveals that working with Indigenous texts in public schools acts as resistance to the coloniality of knowledge, repurposing English – often associated with hegemony – as a tool for amplifying marginalized voices. The novel tells the stories and experiences of a traditional Munduruku people who live in a region bathed by the Canumã River, located in the state of Amazonas. The term crossing suggests a look at the transformations that afflict the traditional roots of an indigenous community. Thus, the construction of this narrative raises awareness about the preservation of the indigenous cultural legacy, seeking, above all, to keep alive the language and memories of a historically neglected and silenced people. That said, we present an analysis based on a reading of Ytanajé Cardoso's novel in the light of postcolonial discourse. According to Ana Mafalda Leite (2020), postcolonialism includes discursive and performative strategies that frustrate the colonial vision of order. In other words, it is a practice that goes against dominant discourses. When thinking about the place of Original Peoples in history, Pachamama (2020) highlights the construction of their invisibility as historical subjects and emphasizes the pulsating protagonism of these peoples. Historiography presents an exclusionary discourse, a limited view of the peoples of the forest. Ytanajé Cardoso's writing thus represents a position that goes against the stigmas and mistaken views rooted in our society. Thus, the construction of a narrative text by an indigenous author, especially a novel that is still little explored in the Amazon indigenous literature scene, is a political act and follows a path of reconstruction and knowledge.
2025-07-02T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Alexandre Lira Sá //www.periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/Decifrar/article/view/17985 O TRATAMENTO DIDÁTICO DO CORDEL INDÍGENA PARA A FORMAÇÃO DO LEITOR LITERÁRIO NO ENSINO MÉDIO 2025-05-08T11:26:21+00:00 Soraima Moreira Alves Ferreira soraimamoreiraaferreira@gmail.com Eliane Cristina Testa poetisalia@gmail.com
The aim of this research is to discuss the importance of didactic work with indigenous literature to improve the training of literary readers in the context of secondary education from the perspective of literary literacy, with an emphasis on the use of cordel poetry by the Brazilian indigenous writer Auritha Tabajara, especially her work “Coração na aldeia, pés no mundo” (2018). To do this, we present some fundamental considerations about indigenous literature and indigenous string poetry (Thiél, 2012; Graúna, 2013; Dorrico et al., 2018; Tabajara, 2018; Gomes; Goulart, 2019; Ribeiro, 2020; Santos et al, 2020; Testa; Ferreira, 2021; Nascimento; Silva; Campanholi, 2023; Siqueira; Martins de Araújo, 2024), the formation of literary readers and literary literacy practices (Conceição; Gomes, 2016; Cosson, 2018; Carmo; Melian, 2020; Rocha; Silva, 2020; Matos; Testa, 2021), following a qualitative methodology based on a literature review. The results show that Tabajara's indigenous cordel poetry in secondary education can be used to train more critical, sensitive readers who are aware of Brazil's cultural plurality and capable of acting actively in society, understanding the benefits of the literary text, which transcends the school and permeates the most diverse social and cultural contexts. With this in mind, the aim of this study is to analyze an excerpt from the work O vento espalha minha voz originária, by Eliane Potiguara, regarded as a significant female and feminist voice in the defense of indigenous rights. The theme is justified by the need for greater visibility of indigenous authors in universities, so that such recognition may be extended to basic education and society at large. This research focuses on the tradition perpetuated by indigenous women and the testimonial nature of their narratives, as well as the process by which indigenous literature often gains international recognition before being valued nationally. This dynamic is understood through Bakhtin’s concept of centrifugal forces, which explain how the dissemination of discourse across different social and cultural spheres affects its recognition and visibility. Supported by the contemporary indigenous literary movement and bakhtinian theory, the study highlights the construction of a lyrical-political "I-we" that emerges as both political activism and cultural expression. Methodologically, the research adopts a qualitative, linguistic-discursive approach, aiming to contribute to the visibility of indigenous literature and, more specifically, to emphasize the power of Eliane Potiguara’s work as a space of intersection between tradition, resistance and self-affirmation of indigenous peoples.
2025-07-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Mayara Macedo Assis, Sinval Martins de Sousa Filho //www.periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/Decifrar/article/view/17999 REPRESENTATIONS OF INDIGENOUS FEMALE RESISTANCE IN O KARAÍBA, BY DANIEL MUNDURUKU 2025-05-18T12:18:04+00:00 Rubenil da Silva Oliveira rubenil.oliveira@ufma.br
This paper proposes to discuss the forms of indigenous female resistance brought by the characters Maraí and Potyra in O Karaíba (2010), by Daniel Munduruku, in dialogue with A mulher habitada (2000), by Gioconda Belli. The concept of resistance proposed here is read as the valorization of subjectivities and existences that have been historically invisible. Literary studies about resistance have been largely discussed based on the definition proposed in the text Narrativa e Resistência by Alfredo Bosi (1996), which consists of two dimensions: resistance as a theme and resistance as eminent writing. However, this analysis was based on the expansion of the meanings that the term resistance suggests, pointing the different forms of survival of marginalized social groups, because in the face of the unquestionable nullities of being crossed by the effects of colonialism, significant forms of resistance and reaffirmation of identities fractured by power relations. Therefore, the novel O Karaíba reverberates the history/memory of indigenous people in Brazil during the colonial period, erased by invaders. The research was with a bibliographical nature and is anchored in the light of the theories of Gayatri Spivak (2010); Halbawachs (1968); Benjamim (1989); Anilbal Quijano (2006); Alfredo Bosi (1996); Daniel Munduruku (2010), among others.
2025-07-03T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Rubenil da Silva Oliveira //www.periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/Decifrar/article/view/17981 UMA ANÁLISE DO PROGRAMA AÇÃO SABERES INDÍGENAS NA ESCOLA 2025-06-17T14:45:55+00:00 Cássia Gonçalves Alencar cassiaalencar7@gmail.com Marta Coelho Castro Troquez martatroquez@ufgd.edu.br
The Brazilian Ministry of Education’s (MEC) program, titled Ação Saberes Indígenas na Escola (ASIE) [Indigenous Knowledges in School Action], established by Ordinance No. 98 in December 2013, aims to provide continuing education for teachers working in Indigenous School Education and to conduct research for the development of teaching materials in Indigenous languages. However, it also highlights the need for improvements and the continuity of ASIE.
